UBER Eats La Liga Sponsorship

The word “Manitas”  refers to an open hand of goals. A gesture that Piquet used many times during his professional career when he wanted to joke about the 5 goals conceded by Real Madrid.

Just three days after Barça’s last ‘manita’ against Benfica, and with the 5-2 against Real Madrid still fresh in the memory, Uber Eats is presenting a new campaign that pays tribute to the historic ‘manita’ of the 2010 El Clásico by the hand of its protagonists, Gerard Piqué and Iker Casillas.

The paths of Piqué and Casillas cross again. This time not on the pitch, but as two friends watching a match at the former Barcelona FC defender’s house, where there is no shortage of details such as a statue in the shape of a ‘manita’, the famous open hand gesture with five fingers clearly visible that Piqué showed during Guardiola’s Barcelona’s 5-0 win over Mourinho’s Real Madrid.

When they have to decide what to have for dinner, Piqué suggests ordering ‘manitas’ (a typical Spanish dish), not pork or lamb, as is common in Spain, but ‘manitas’ like the one he showed the stands in the 5-0 win over Real Madrid. Casillas, his pride wounded, responded by saying that at Uber Eats there is almost, almost everything, but they don’t have ‘manitas’ like Piqué’s, nor do they have 15 ‘orelhudas’, alluding to the number of Champions League trophies won by Real Madrid, which Barça is still a long way from achieving.
